Which fragrance for every occasion ?

I really like fragrances so I was waiting to open a topic on the subject.
As I know that a nomadic life is not compatible with non-essential items (like fragrance) so I thought if I had to choose one fragrance to keep with me when I travel and that I would use for all occasions, which one would it be?
It's not easy to answer, so I made a list of potential ones.

The fragrances on this list are fragrances that I own, have used or will buy myself. There are others that are versatile but that I don't particularly like or have never tried.

I recommend trying to smell the fragrance in the shop before buying. It would be a shame if you didn't like it once you received it.

Also try spraying a little on your wrist, note the time and smell it during the day. Note when the fragrance disappears to get an idea of its longevity. But with the fragrances on this list you won't have any unpleasant surprises regarding their longevity.

If you want to know more about the notes of fragrance, you can use this site https://www.fragrantica.com/
It is an excellent database .

Dylan Blue - Versace

Excellent fragrance and also the cheapest on the list. It is well suited to people in their 20s.

Aqua Di Gio Profumo - Giorgio Armani

The same designer as the Dylan Blue fragrance. A better version of Aqua Di Gio with a better lasting performance.

Armani Code Colonia - Giorgio Armani

Along with L'homme idéal by Guerlain, this is the fruitiest fragrance on the list. Very intense in the tonka bean notes but with a touch of freshness that the other Armani Codes don't have.

L'homme idéal - Guerlain

A mature fragrance. Definitely for people over 35. A bit heavy and fruity. A fragrance that goes well with the smell of old books. Suitable for artists and literary people who spend time in libraries or art galleries.

Bleu - Chanel

Easier to like than The Ideal Man and less specialised. It is a fragrance that was given to me by a friend and that made me interested in the world of fragrance.

Aventus - Creed

The only niche fragrance of the list, "King Aventus". Since its release (2010 if I remember correctly) and for several years considered the best fragrance for men. Then cloned and other fragrances have taken its dna to offer a new version. It is the most expensive of the list. If you don't want to spend too much on a fragrance and you like this scent I recommend the following instead.

Sauvage - Dior

An Aventus with the prestige of the Dior brand and a more contemporary DNA. It is also more appreciated. I find that the eau de toilette smells better and lasts longer than the fragrance version (too intense).

Allure Homme Sport Eau Extrême - Chanel

If you like to smell fresh all day but still have a touch of fruit for the evenings. I don't know if it's because of the name "sport" but I can imagine an athlete, tennis player, golfer having a glass of cocktail in the evening at the hotel by the pool after an active day.

That's it for this list people, I hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to say if you have any fragrance you like by replying to this topic or if you have chosen a fragrance from my list 🙂

I feel you. I used to be hard in to it as well. I am currently going through Channel Bleu. I used to alternate between Allure and Aqua Di Gio back in the day. I have another year on the Bleu including my travel bottle. After this, probably go for the Diesel one that's shaped like a fist. Can't think of the name. All time favorite is Allure Sport though.

Cool thread.  (Jojo where did you steal this pics?) - you put ther some of the most popular scents..

Let me try it :), here is my short list:

1st. Tom Ford - Ombre Leather (my absolutely no.1)

2nd. Yves Saint Laurent - Y

3rd. Lalique - Encre Noir

4th. Paco Rabane - Pure Xs Night

5th. Azzaro - Chrome (also classic, but I've putted away couse flooded the market in PL)

6th.  Hugo BOSS - XY (this one have gone from shelves in PL, i don't knwo why)

I heard from many girls tha Paco Rabane - 1 mln dollars is one of the best scents for men - personally I don't like it

You might noticed that most ot this are pretty decent in price. This scents are field tested. Non of girls coulnd resist Tom Ford, whitch is my personal choice number one.  Some of them didn't like Paco Pure Xs Nigh (to sweet).  And every girl liked Hugo Boss YX and Azzaro Chrome - but this are mostly for summer.

I agree, the prices are reasonable for these scents.

Thank you for your list Jason Harimau !

This is a great opportunity to discover leather fragrances for me. Very masculine, let's see what my girlfriend thinks of Ombré Leather. She already loved Bentley For men intense.

I sprayed Ombré Leather on one hand and I'm sure that the performance of Tom Ford is excellent because after 2 hours the smell is still very marked. It is also cheaper than other Tom Ford products.

I trust you on the compliments of the girls.

I may take it for the next winter. At the moment I'm on Kilian Black Phantom, which is very sweet (coffee, chocolat, almond, caramel) with notes of rum.

3 on 3 people love it !

"1 million" is too popular for my taste. All the girls know it and it's a nightclub smell for me (as I don't go to those places very often...) And now it is becoming outdated in my opinion.

Since the beginning of the summer, I've been wanting to continue my fragrance collection. The problem is that for now I prefer to put my money into my business. And I had an idea! I am used to making travel diaries, so I thought why not do the same thing but with the fragrances I love?

So I started to write a paper diary of the fragrances I test.
I've been using my art skills to make some illustrations.

And in the process, I decided to add them to this thread because it makes the publications more stylish, it saves me from going to the stores to take pictures and because I'm pretty proud of my sketches 😄

Fragrance : Noir extrême (eau de parfum)
Brand : Tom Ford
Designer : Sonia Constant
Price : 136$-190$
Winter Fragrance, Sweet, Oriental

Sweet and bold fragrance with sandalwood and nutmeg and flowers. It smells very unique. I personally love nutmeg.

Notes (According to fragrantica)
Top notes: cardamom, nutmeg, saffron, mandarin, neroli

Middle notes: kulfi, rose, jasmine, lentisque, orange blossom

Base notes: vanilla, amber, woody notes, sandalwood

A fragrance with some very exotic ingredients that I haven't encountered much in my testing.

Lentisque, Mastic or Lentisque (mastic tree, Yemen gum) is a Mediterranean shrub with nice smelling resin obtained from its branches. The smell of mastic resin is similar to pine, cedar, olibanum. (fragrantica)

Kulfi, after a search on the net, it is an ice cream flavor from India flavored with mango and pistachio.

Neroli oil is an essential oil produced from the blossom of the bitter orange tree (from wikipedia)

Sandalwood is an exception, it grown on my Pacific island. It is a very rare wood and the manufacture uses a strictly ethical process for nature and limits the collection of the material to the necessary.

A short clip to show what the sandalwood factory looks like.

A few days after I posted this topic, I got some perfume recommendations. I wasn't interested in leather fragrances but now I'm totally addicted to Tom Ford Ombre Leather. So naturally I bought a bottle. A great scent!
Thanks you @Jason Harimau !

Fragrance : Ombré Leather
Brand : Tom Ford
Designer : Sonia Constant
Price :136$-190$
Leather Fragrance, warm and spicy

Notes (According to fragrantica)
Top notes: cardamom

Middle notes: leather, jasmin sambac

Base notes:  amber, moss, patchouli

My new favorite fragrance for winter.

At first, I didn't like it because I'm used to more fruity and sweet scents. But now I am completely conquered. With use I find it very masculine, wild and elegant. My girld friend loves it too over the others Tom Ford.
Notes of Patchouli and spices that reveal themselves as the perfume dries are very pleasant.
On my skin, the fragrance lasts easily 5-6h.

It is a unisex fragrance.

This perfume also has an economic advantage, even if it is over 100USD it is the most affordable Tom Ford.

Last thing, a perfume version of Ombré Leather was released a little while ago. I didn't manage to test it but it seems that it is lighter and fruity.

I'm no expert on fragrances but I always save a good percentage on RRP by purchasing off ebay. Just check the seller has a lot of positive feedback to ensure you aren't buying fakes and buy a larger size.

It's interesting that you mention fake fragrances on ebay because I ordered the first Ombré Leather on ebay and it was a fake.
This is the second time I've come across a counterfeit, and I've been able to get my money back each time. I'm thinking of writing a topic on this subject.

Thanks for the recommendation, I will check out this seller. 👍

@Jojo @Jason Harimau Good call on the ombré leather; his best fragrance by far. I smelled it two years ago and couldn’t stop thinking about it: quite masculine like the pour homme he made for Gucci about a decade ago.

Also anything by Carthusia

Something about this scent makes it truly addictive and memorable.

I love the Carthusia bottles! They are very stylish! I'll check out the shops if they have this brand! Thanks for the recommendation!
